Our Story
the Farmers
meet us
Welcome! My name is Susan and I became a full-time flower farmer in 2015. I guess you could call this my encore career since it began after I retired from a long career in healthcare administration. My husband and I started Arcola Trail Flower Farm on our small farm near Minneapolis/St. Paul in the quaint river town of Stillwater, Minnesota. It was my younger sister who lives in California who suggested we grow cut flowers as a business. I wasn't sure it would be feasible here in Minnesota, but it certainly is! We've studied and learned from experts around the country who generously share their knowledge and expertise of flower farming and floral design. We are now in our twelfth year growing and selling cut flowers in the Twin Cities to retail customers, floral designers, our local food co-op, and a select number of wedding clients. We also offer a Friends of the Farm bouquet subscription. Our flowers are available to anyone who wants or needs flowers for any occasion. I can't think of anything I would rather be doing (though I miss my farming partner and husband - RIP Brad).
We are proud to be lifetime members of The Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers (ASCFG) and promoters of the "slow flowers" movement in the United States. Our mission is to bring you the freshest organically grown local blooms available from May to October. We hope you will enjoy watching us bloom, blossom, and grow!
